We match Pets to PeoplePets promise

Pets are good for us!

We believe in and promote responsible pet ownership. Not only are pets great companions and family members but there is evidence that they can help reduce stress in adults and help children to learn about life and even do better at school!

We match pets to people

Responsible pet ownership

If you are thinking of buying a pet our trained store colleagues will spend time with you to make sure that you choose the best pet to suit yours and the animal's lifestyles. By matching owners and pets we hope to ensure a long and happy relationship.

Bringing a pet into your life and home is a huge commitment. You are promising to look after it and care for it throughout its life. So, in the interests of responsible pet ownership, we will not sell pets to under 16's unless they are accompanied by an adult. We also appreciate that travelling can be stressful for many animals and so try to minimise the distance that animals travel from breeders to our stores. On arrival in store, pets are given time to rest away from the shop floor. This varies by species and helps us to ensure that they are happy and healthy before they are moved to their new home.

Puppies and Kittens

Of course, we love puppies and kittens as much as other animals but prefer to recommend that you obtain them from a reputable local breeder, who will be able to provide specific breed advice. Check out the Puppy Index in store for details of local breeders. Alternatively, why not visit your local rescue centre where you'll find puppies and kittens along with older dogs and cats looking for adoption by loving new owners.

Small Animals

In store we have rabbits, guinea pigs and a selection of the smaller mammals such as hamsters and gerbils. All our small animals are bred by reputable specialists.

Fish

We stock a range of tropical and coldwater fish suitable for beginner’s right through to more serious fish lovers.

Pet Care Trust Members

We are proud to be members of the Pet Care Trust, an organisation committed to raising standards of care and advice throughout the pet industry.
