Have you thought about adopting a pet? One of the major schemes within the Pets at Home Charitable Foundation, is our dedicated Support Adoption initiative. Within a number of our stores we have rabbits, guinea pigs, gerbils, rats and hamsters who are available for adoption which are looking for a second chance of happiness in a loving home.

Our staff are committed to promoting responsible pet ownership and will gladly offer help and advice on the animals in our care. If you are looking for any other type of pet, our staff will be able to advise you on local rehoming centres in your area we are working in partnership with, as part of Support Adoption.

Success Through Partnership
“The Chestnut Cat Sanctuary & Rescue Centre has been a partner with the Romford Pets at Home store’s Support Adoption Scheme since October 2006. We have always found the Pets at Home staff to be extremely helpful and we have been able to work together to establish a scheme that could work across other Pets at Home stores and help more local rehoming centres like us. As part of the scheme, we benefit from food which customers donate via food bins in store and every visit we receive more than £200 worth of food which is invaluable to us. This saving has enabled us to make a great head start in our project for 2007 to buy a new electricity supply meter for the Sanctuary. Thank you Pets at Home, we are proud of the association & support!”

“Our relationship with Pets at Home has been fantastic – both organisations worked hand-in-hand to support the promotion of responsible pet ownership and Pets at Home staff and customers whole-heartedly embraced the charity relationship with enthusiasm and passion. In 18 months an amazing £300,000 was raised to support the animals in our care. Thank you Pets at Home customers and staff.

Celebrating success
The only thing we know about Jack and Jill is that they were left near the gates of The Blue Cross adoption centre in Burford. Scared and disorientated, they had been confined in a small pet carrier and abandoned.
Thank goodness they were found quickly. In Winter, in the cold and wet, it’s absolutely vital that pets are under cover and kept safe and warm. After releasing them from their carrier, we checked them for any physical harm, cleaned them up, and made sure they were warm and comfortable and gave them something to eat.
Nobody can know how Jack and Jill must feel. They won’t understand why they were abandoned or where their owner has gone. Happily Jack and Jill were re-homed together and have been given a second chance of a fulfilled life through the work of The Blue Cross.
