Cat Collars and Harnesses
Collars
Once your cat or kitten starts to venture outside it is essential that it wears a collar and some form of identification. The collar should be tight enough to prevent it falling off, but allow two fingers to be slipped underneath it. The collar should also have a breakaway fastening to prevent accidents if the collar became caught-up. There are many different collars available including those which help to combat fleas, those which reflect in the dark, one that even sounds an alarm to alert birds of your cat’s presence.
Check carefully under the collar on a regular basis for redness or hair loss caused by an ill-fitting collar. Remember that kittens grow fast and their collars will need adjusting or replacing.
Harnesses
Cats can be taught to walk on a lead, but it is advisable to attach them to a harness rather than a collar.
