Glossary
DHA:
DHA or docosahexaenoic acid is an Omega-3 fatty acid and is important for brain and vision development in puppies. Puppies nourished on diets with a high, safe level of DHA are proven to be more responsive to training.
L-Carnitine:
L-Carnitine increases the rate at which fat is burnt, therefore reducing the storage of body fat. This nutrient is often added to Senior and Light diets to help control body weight.
Glucosamine and Chondroitin Sulphate:
These nutrients help to promote healthy joint cartilage and support overall joint and health mobility. Senior dogs, large breed and overweight dogs benefit from the addition of these nutrients in their diet, helping to maintain healthy joints and mobility.
Yucca Extract:
This natural prebiotic has a deodorizing effect and helps reduce the smell of your dog’s stools, which makes poop scooping less unpleasant.
FOS (Fructooligosacharide):
This natural prebiotic fibre has been shown to improve digestive health.
Dental Health:
Your dog’s teeth develop plaque and tartar the same way as yours do. When plaque isn’t brushed away, it hardens and forms tartar. If not treated this can cause inflammation of the gum (gingivitis) and bacteria can enter the bloodstream and cause damage to vital organs, such as the kidneys, liver and heart. The best way to reduce plaque and bacteria is regular brushing. If brushing causes your dog distress then dry foods such as crunchy kibbles will help keep your dog’s teeth clean, removing plaque and tartar, whilst promoting fresh breath. Specific dental products can also help. Polyphosphate minerals can also be used in diets. These minerals stay on the teeth after meals to reduce tartar build up.
