Timers are completely silent so they didn't attract Tez's attention. The lid opens smoothly (ie it doesn't 'ping' open), but the unit needs space behind to allow the lid to open fully and needs to be kept away from water, so it can't go next to a wall or a messy cat's water dish. Tez tried to break into it but lost interest before he managed it. So far.
