5 in 1 Water Testing Strips 25 Pack by Tetra

Product Dimensions:

Approximate product dimensions: 3.2 x 11 x 3.2cm

Product Description:

In order for your fish and aquarium to remain healthy and thrive, the water conditions in your aquarium need to be as close to that of the natural environment as possible.

5 in 1 Water Testing Strips test for the five most important areas:-

o pH level - measures the acidity or alkalinity of the water in your tank;
o Nitrites - caused by the bacterial conversion of ammonia from dead plants, uneaten food and fish waste within the tank;
o Nitrates - a by-product of Nitrites in the Nitrogen Cycle of your tank;
o Carbonate - adds to the hardness of the water, and is found in tap water;
o General Hardness - water hardness is caused by the concentration of metal ions in the water, such as calcium, magnesium and iron.

If levels for any of the above are incorrect it can result in stress, illness and even death for the fish in your tank.

Each strip contains several coloured tabs, for each of the five testing areas, with a results interpreter contained on the bottle.

You should test the water in your aquarium on a weekly basis.

This product is very hard to understand and it is very hard to find out what to do/use afterwards. I would recommend bringing in a smaple of your water, twice a month, to your nearest Pets at Home or aquatics shop and have have them test it and tell you what to do.
