My two rat's have never used their wheel - but not all rat's like them. As long as you give your rat plenty of exercise, I don't think a wheel is a must

Some rats love wheels, some don't, but I hear they have to bend their necks on awkward angles to use them so don't be surprised if your rat won't use it's wheel. However, I have a few rats which love this specific make of wheel :) Safe and quiet.

The fact that this wheel has no gaps in it, and sits on the floor, makes it excellent. However, most rats do not enjoy using wheels as they have to crane their necks to do so, causing discomfort.
