Our purpose built distribution centre opened in Stoke on Trent in January 2003 to service all of our stores nationwide. Due to the rapid growth of the business, in 2006 the NDC was extended by 100,000 sq ft doubling the warehouse capacity and ensuring that we have the infrastructure to support our growth into 2012. We also enhanced the colleague facilities on site to include a full canteen and opened the Pets at Home National Training Centre, as part of the Pets at Home Academy.

With approximately 300 colleagues, we employ full and part time warehouse colleagues, team leaders, supervisors, shift managers, stock controllers and administration staff. With a wide variety of shift patterns, we have work patterns to suit a wide range of people’s requirements.

Communication within the distribution centre is important to us both to keep everyone informed of developments in the company but also to hear their views and ideas. In addition to the company suggestion scheme “Think Tank”, we have an internal communication mechanism called “Ask Alan” where any concerns, ideas or issues can be placed in front of the General Manager for the Centre and responded to within 24 hours. We also hold monthly “Colleague Forum” meetings where management can hear peoples’ views directly.

We believe that our National Distribution Centre is a great place to work.
