Light unit not great, lid can be tricky

I am sorry that our aquarium does not give you complete satisfaction.
From what we can understand of the complain, the key point is the overheating of the
light unit. There could be three main reasons for the mal functioning of the light system:
1- If the contact between the pins of the halogen lamp and the cable aren’t good.
2- The replacement lamp is bigger than 10W causing big release of heat and the
transformer will go off as a protection.
3- When changing the lamp the pin protection (5) is lost, and there is slight contact
between the two pins.
Over heating will cause the lamp life time to be shorter. Also over heating will
damage the plastic support (1) and plastic protection over the glass tube. If the
plastic support is damaged the plastic protection (6) and the light unit will fall from
the lid when you lift it.
Concerning the lid that unclips; the lid must be completely inserted (3) and once
inserted this will work like a normal hinges and the lid can’t go out.
Please also verify if the lid is not broken (2).
Concerning the algae problem there isn’t any relation between the distance of the lamp
from the water and quantity of algae. Algae problem is related with quantity of light
(number of hours on, to much natural light…) and presence of nutrients in the water to
develop algae (quantity of food supplied, changes of water …). Need to use an antialgae
and a prevent algae for the future.
