Not great for Degus

I use this when I am cleaning out my boys cage and they are only in for about half an hour at a time and I have been using it for about 4 months, but they already have chewed holes big enough to fit a finger through and have also been chewing at handle from inside. I am too afraid to lift it by the handle in case it snaps. There is also the issue of little toes being caught with the awkward way it must be closed. I would not reccomend this product for degus.

I used this carrier to get my two new gerbils home (I had a previous experience where a hamster I purchased was half-way out of her box by the time I got her home - never again!) and will use it when they're going to my neighbour when I am on holiday (they'll go in the carrier while the cage is taken to the neighbours house, to avoid any confusion :) )

Straight forward to open, and to separate for cleaning. However, getting it back together/closed is a much harder task and even closing it is a two-hand job. I managed it without wanting to throw it against the wall, but it took a couple of minutes, which is good I suppose; if it's hard to get together, it won't just pop apart when you lift it up. This is the only problem I encountered with it.

The bottom has some grip on it for the occupants feet, so they don't skid and slide everywhere but they won't hurt their toes either, if they do happen to slip a bit. Plenty of air grooves means the air inside the carrier will match the ambient air; they shouldn't get too hot unless it's hot already.

The handles sat comfortably in my hand and, with some bedding, a little food and a cardboard tube for the journey, little Dot and Dash were perfectly happy.

we brought this to transport our three gerbils sandy,sonic and flo home from pets at home instead of the cardboard carriers used at the store we got all 3 gerbils home safely and comfortably and know we have a carrier for any further future trips to the vets or for any other pets we buy great quality and serves the purpose it was intented for

I got 2 of these for my Degus, first trip to vets the slightly more outgoing of the two had almost escaped by the time i got to the vets. I had spent the entire journey having to try stop him chewing whilst i was driving, by the time i got to vets (15min drive) 2 of the plastic strips had been removed and he was almost out in the car park. Vet had to give me metal cat carrier to transport him home.

Bought 2 small wire custom made carriers from a diff website.

Good carrier but certainly not suitable for Degus.

Gave remaining carrier to my sister which she uses for gerbils, it's fine for them.

This is great, my 2 roborvoski dwarf hamsters love it! When I travel I can put in their house, tube and food bowl and it's still not cramped. I would not put any animal bigger than a syrian hamster in here for longer than a trip to the vet though, as for them it would be very cramped. This is absolutly perfect for small rodents though, so it's worth buying.

brought one of these about 6 years ago and i still have it, it has been used when we moved house and for when our gerbils and hamsters needed to go to the vets.we have even put a hand reared kitten in this as he was very Small we needed to travel with him as he needed feeding every 2 hours and there was enough room for him to move around in it. it is easy to carry and keep your little pet safe for when you are traveling with them.

I bought two of these carriers to transport two pairs of rats when I was moving house and later for vet trips.

These carriers close securely, the clip at the top which holds it shut has to be pressed in to open so a pet cannot push the lid up and escape. It is well ventilated on both the top half and the lid with holes and slits, all of which are too small for escaping out of. The inside is quite smooth so my rats had nowhere to get hold of to chew a hole. The plastic body is pretty sturdy.

The handles are nowhere near as sturdy, I had to check each carrier in store as many of them already had busted handles with no use! The carrier could only be used for a short trip or as temporary housing during cage cleaning, as two rats in there were not particularly comfortable and began to squabble after a while, although it's a perfectly fine size for hamsters. Cleaning it is a bit of a pain, as the entire top half has to be removed (so debris inside doesn't fall through the ventilation slits and go everywhere when it's tipped upside down) and this loosens the security of the sides of the carrier if done often.

An Ok product generally for short trips or a brief 'holding cell'.
