I brought 2 of these tanks 1 for each of my children with the plan of putting 2 small goldfish in each. Brought new gravel for tanks as didn't seem much in the set. The kids loved sticking on the stickers and the picture scene for the back. The only problem came when I was trying to set up, as most people have mentioned the instructions are totally useless and not worth the paper there written on, although after scanning old reviews I managed to get them set up and they seem to be working ok. I wouldn't let the poor filter instructions put you off buying this set, although it may cause a little stress at the time of setting up that's it after that it just becomes a lovely cheap little tank your children will love

I got this for my son when he won a fish at a fair it was hard to read the instructions overall it is a great product and great value for money
Highly recommended For first time fish owners
-you do need to buy more gravel
-good size for only one fish
-need decor to keep fish occupied

This tank is really good for a starter kit for a child and to hold small fish. It looks good and has everything you need. Its really easy to set up, I don't understand all the fuss in previous reviews about the filter, there is literally one tube to attach and go, couldn't be easier!!

I have never owned fish but when we won at the fair I bought this tank to sart me on the right track! Took me all of 10mins to clean and set up was so easy! .. I bought my own gravel as I like thick layer of it where they only supply enough to cover the base wich some people (me too) do not like and prefer a lot more! My childres love the Fish Stickers and backgrounnd! I highly Recommend :D

Had to get a good value tank after winning two goldfish at a fair, this seemed perfect as low price, with filter and gravel (although not enough) although great value for money the instructions for filter as a beginner are terrible, had it set up all wrong before reading previous reviews.also agree with sticky tape..but after the headache its now all set up to wait for fish to go in :)

Ask how to set the filter up as the intstructions are useless.

Ask why the filter power cord is so small when it states it must be plugged into the wall socket & not an extension lead.

Ask them to sell you the right size of gravel bag in the first place to save you going back for another one.

Bought this as it seemed the ideal "first aquarium" for my young son.
We have never owned fish before so we were soley reliant on Pets @ Home staff and the set-up instructions for advice. This was not the case!
After 3 days we finally worked out the filter, thanks to the other reviews on this page.
We have had more information from these than from the box and staff which is really disappointing!! I am now worried that because it has taken so long to finally set-up that we have jeopardised the"cycle" and should wait a good bit longer before introducing fish???. This is not going down very well with my son as he is fed up waiting.
Its also very noisy therefore DO NOT recommend this in or near a bedroom.
This potentially could be a fantastic buy but its instructions are a mega let down. Its sad as poor fish will suffer or maybe even die because of basic but very important information. The staff selling this product should also be aware of the difficulties aswell.

As most of these post state filter instruction are awful not sure if we have set this up correctly but hopefully after reading some of the other post we have how hard can it be to write simply instruction#
