I'd read all the reviews on here before buying this product and as such felt I needed to leave a review myself. Our two cats were wild originally so they were spooked a little at first, I left the lid off for the first day and then had the door taped up for the next two weeks and we've had no problems at all with changing from an open litter tray to a hooded one. I wish we'd changed ages ago, it's brilliant. No smell, no scattered litter. One thing I did notice although my cats are females, the lid overhangs the base very slightly on the inside - some reviews on other hooded litter trays mentioned problems with male cats spraying and a resulting 'mess' around the catches but I don't think that would happen with this model.

Bought this originally as had an elderly sick cat who didn't always want to go outside to the loo but the other cats at times used the tray too!! I chose this particular one because the size of it fitted in the narrow space where it would be positioned. At first I lifted and secured the cat flap open until cats got used to it then later put the flap down but I became concerned they'd catch their paws in the swing flap so removed it altogether. Without the flap the litter box still works fine. Litter mostly stays inside the tray and having the hood contains any spraying which my tomcats sometimes do instead of squatting. Don't see the point in the charcoal filter.

I have two 18 week old kittens. They both use this litter tray and both get into it with ease. However, whilst one of them leaves after using it without any problems, the other gets stuck inside because he can't work the pushdoor and he panics rapidly scratching against the door from the inside, unable to get it open. He's been using it for a good 10 weeks now, and keeps getting stuck. His probably is that he's pushing against the top hinge with his front paws instead of pushing lower down the flap or using his head. He occasionally uses the carpets and rugs for a toilet instead because he gets scared - and as a result this box is going..

I was a bit worried about the door as my cats hate cat carriers and it looks like one but once I pushed them through the door and once inside pushed the door open so the could see it doesnt lock. For the first few days my only problem was the youngest of my 2 cats would sleep in it! But its just over a week and they use it all the time no problems. No bad smells even when i was away for 2 days and one night. I also had a little surprise in that it has a handy little slot to store the scoop that it comes with. Fantastic value.

I started off with a basic litter tray and soon discovered cat litter all over the house even in my hand bag!! So i did my research on on all the hooded ones and this one came out the best!!! (even though it was less expensive than some others).

Scoop is very small. Filter is not provided when bought so I had to buy one seperately which is strange because my last one came with a filter free Of charge. Got it home to find that it is missing the handle which pets at home should have checked before putting it on the shelf. It looks good, does the job but I've seen better value with handles and filters included in the price.

great item took a day to get cat trained in getting in and out,did it without litter,he now loves it...
dont understand about the charcolef filter thing though...we had nothing with it so smell is still bad from the holes at top?

This is excellent for preventing cat litter being scooted all over the floor and goes some way towards keeping in the nasty niffs. I guess the cat litter itself is the most important for preventing the bad odours. It is a good size and the handle is useful for moving it around. I have purchased a second base pan so that the cats are not left without a loo whilst I clean one.

The tray provides privacy for the kittie cat to go to the loo. We've two kittens and are getting a second one so they have one each. The closed in lid helps reduce smell and spillage of litter over the side. Can also take in the car when travelling with no spillage.

The tray is nice and deep too so a good amount of litter can be put in - the cats like this and can have a good scratch around. The vent at the top helps with getting air in there and circulate any nasty smells until you can clean it out.
