Keeping your pet cool

Water and ventilation are essential for pets while travelling, as they can otherwise overheat - and they have no way of telling you when they're getting too warm! The RSPCA recommends you make sure there is a water bottle or a non-spill water bowl, and keep it topped up with fresh water throughout the journey.

You should also ensure the area your dog is in is kept well-ventilated, by opening window vents around the carrier, while window shades are a good way to keep the sun off. Don't let your pet stick its head out the window, as this can be dangerous - instead plan regular breaks to give your dog a chance to cool off and stretch its legs.
