I am returning to keeping tropical fish after enjoying it as a teenager. I wanted a one hit solution which I could set up with the kids, firstly to teach them the hobby but also so they know how to maintain the tank without my help.
Set up was a doddle as per the instructions and not too far away from what I remembered from youth. The hood needed to be unscrewed to allow the cables to be fed through the more central holes but its not a greatly difficult task.there is noise from the filter but ive never heard a filter yet that is noise free. If you dont want noise dont set it to produce bubbles.... simple.
By following the instructions and properly cleaning the gravel first ive got crystal clear water in a matter of hours.
All components are working and the tank seems well designed.

Really good product

Love this tank, however the filter broke within a year, and so all the fish got white spot. Got another filter, free of charge, which is working fine, but out of 15 fish and a shrimp, only 3 fish and the shrimp survived =/.
Originally had natural looking gravel, but after the big clean out to get rid of WS. put in a little gravel at the back, and sand in the rest, looks lovely and bright with natural coloured sand of space for the fish to swim in. The thermometer is easy to read and understamd, and the heater is easy to turn down.
This tank comes with a protector, which you put beneath the lid, on to of the water, and this helps stop condensation and drops on the fish. Brilliant little freebie, every fish tank should have one!
All in all, I love watching my fish swim around, as I really enjoy watching my fish after I've done my homework!
brilliant product, but you should check the filter every once in a while !

I bought thid tank for my son's bedroom. It was very easy to set up and looks great with black sand substrate. Planted with a few hardy plants and stokcked with 4 Albino Cory and some Endlers, which happily breed (and breed, and breed !! :-). Only criticisms are condensation, which is to be expected to some degree with a tropical tank, but this seems excessive, and the filter slips - I eventually repalced it with a Fluval U2 which whilst bigger is much better. I doubt I would buy another as I am sure my boy will want a larger set up in fuutre, but still worth recommneding !

Very good quality and the lights, day and night settings look fantastic in our living room. Styled with some nice ornaments and blue gravel this tank is perfect for our average sized living room!

Had never ending problems with the tank in the year I have had it
1) filter does not stick to the glass constantly having to re stick
2) light unit has cracked and the plastic melted had to buy a new light unit from the net and the same thing happening!
3) water leves constantly drop have to do water top up every other day weather I have it as tropical or cold water
4) bulbs don't last long for the £10.99 each!
5) have to keep it away from the wall as if you need to acess tank if close to the wall the lid does to open far enough and many more things but u can get the gist of where I'm going

I fell in love with this tank as soon as I saw it, it was on offer at 25% off with the stand for £94ish. Great, considering it is 48L and I originally wanted a 30L one which works out more expensive with the stand.
The stand is a cute and handy storage space for everything your fish need. I've got all their medicine, food and manuals etc. in there.
The filter is a bit of a nusience, it sometimes slips down the tank and it is noisy. Luckily it doesn;t bother me as I sleep, but if noise bothers you then I would not recommend. It seems that my little fishies are a bit 'overwhelmed' by the filter as they do not venture near the top of the tank, preferring the food flakes to drop to them. This may be due to their size of about 3-4cm.
The stand was a bit of a pain, but only fitting the handle which seemed too small, but after a bit of forceful bending it then fitted nicely.

i got the Fish Box 40cm Tank by Interpet from my local pets at home store and as some reviews says that the filter is noisy and slides down but upto now this hasnt happened it is easy to setup and all the equipment you need to startup it is suitable for coldwater or tropical so if you are only just starting this would be great and if not it will be still just as great also the lights are very effective and useful and it is from a great company interpt.

This is our first adventure with tropical fish so we thought we would get an all in one kit. The tank and heater are ok and it's good that it comes with all the chemicals, but the filter is really bad. It's noisy, doesn't clear the tank and one of our loaches got stuck head first in the switch. After a month of running the filter our water is still cloudy despite all the water tests being fine. Off to get a new filter!

If your starting up you are better off getting a better filter like a mini power filter.

I would just like to also give some "Info"on this product....This fish tank is great for all fish except "Loaches"...Our loach has managed to jump through the cable holes within minutes of being moved into the tank..Luckily we were able to rescue him and put him back, the next time he "got out" during the night even after we had taped the holes up..We found him on the floor in the morning, but put him back and hubby has made some "alterations" to the tank hoping it dosent happen again (Assuming "Houdini" will survive the shock, time will tell)....

nice looking tank , set it up and can't get over the filter it is very fast flowing and ever so noisy , i hear it from one end of house to the other , you hear it over the tv and the tanks in another room .So if your buying this , get ready to buy another filter as the one that come with it is far to loud and blows water to fast in the tank . the flow of water throws the fish around . NOT GOOD
