The Fluval Edge Heater will maintain the aquarium temperature to within approx 3C of the ambient room temperature. It is natural, as with the fishes environment for the night time temperature to fall somewhat. For most species, including Bettas, which are kept in a domestic fishtank, the heaters are sufficient. However, when a higher temperature is needed it is perfectly OK to upgrade to a larger heater.
