Description

Giant rabbits generally tend to be more laid back and less excitable than smaller rabbits. They are good natured and affectionate, making them an excellent pet rabbit. They are great as an indoor (house) rabbit although it is essential that they are neutered.

Rabbits should be fed a specific rabbit food in either an extruded nugget or muesli mix with plenty of hay for roughage. Your rabbit's diet can be supplemented with fresh fruit and vegetables to offer additional variety to your pet's diet.

Giant Rabbits on average live to 4 plus years of age.

I got a half giant rabbit and loved her so much! When her sister died (love you Lily :'( ) I decided to get a giant rabbit. I kept the two apart, but when they do meet they love each other a lot! I love him, but the can be a tiny bit smelly, but then they all are, right?

We have just lost our giant rabbit and she has left a big hole in our hearts so please take everything into consideration before making the commitment.

When we are ready we will get another giant.

They make great pets if you have the time, but please do not under estimate the amount of space needed and the cost of keeping a giant. A hutch is not big enough. You will need a shed or converted wendy house if you plan on keeping outside.

You will also need a dog sized pet carrier.

They make great house rabbits and I would suggest this is the best way to keep them, rabbits are very sociable animals and dont like being on their own so they will love your company.

We had an XL dog crate as her space and then she was litter trained (I have to get inventive to find a litter tray that was big enough in the end I used a potting try) she had the run of the downstairs - you will also have to get inventive for environment enrichment I have not yet found any bunny toys that are suitable for a giant. But a pop up children's tunnel & laundry baskets are ideal as are large cardboard boxes.

You will need to bunny proof and remember to keep that important paperwork out of the way.

Our girl was best friends with the dog they would sit together and loved to torment the cats.

They are not suitable for children - they are heavy, they dont like being picked up and if grumpy will pounce and growl, which can be frightening to children.

So if you are thinking about a giant they are great pets but please, please do your research first and consider what you are taking on

We just lost our much loved Thumper after little over a year from what we believe to be Wryneck. Really upset about it and I'm over 30 years old... Problem is these are not your normall bunnies which is why it hurts so much now. We have another 'normal' rabbit. But she is just a rabbit really, although we still love her she just doesn't have the same level of personality. Thumper on the other hand was something special!

It was an impulse purchase but we soon changed everything in our house to suite him (including a stair gate and his own area taking up half the hall). He shed hair pretty much everywhere which was a bit annoying and he cost me several HDMI and speak cables (though never power cables, he wasn't that dumb apparently!).

This is essentially a small dog with sharp teeth but without the walks so dont buy thinking it wont have a massive impact and you will need to bunny proof your house... but SSOOOO worth it!!

He had pretty much full run when we were home and caused his share of problems but they are amazing creatures with with everyone he met falling in love (even my father in law who trys to pretend otherwise!).

Just make sure you know the comitment and the expense required to give them the best in life and you cant go wrong!

i had my giant rabbit bubbles for 4 years untill in march he died its was a very upseting time for me and my family because bubbles was such a big part of our lives he was so friendly and he even responded to his own name.They are very loveable and i would recommend this to anyone who has the time because if not it isnt fair on the rabbit because all they want to do is spend as much time with you as possible they also like little treats me and my mum used to feed him biscuts and he always herd the packet he would come up the garden i was worriend because when we first got bubbles my brother was only 7 so i was worried that he might be to ruth handed with bubbles and the giant rabbit might hurt him but he was so clos with my brothey bubbles sat with him why he watched tv so if anyone is to bye one who has the time and the love it's worth it and yes you see the price and think to much but it's not there worth it

My rabbit is called Wayne, he is very big he is a giant house rabbit, and hes house trained and i think that every house should have a Wayne because they are easy to look after and very lovable they always jump on the couch when you are sat there and he enjoys a good cudle. He doesnt live in a cage he lives in my house

My giant rabbit is so nice. He roams free in my bedroom. At night, he often cuddles up with me to sleep. Despite being bigger than most dogs, my giant rabbit it big, but cute. He doesn't make that much mess, and I take him everywhere. When this giant rabbit dies, I having another!
