Guinea Pigs are one of the world's most popular pets. They are inexpensive, undemanding, hardy and sociable creatures.

They make ideal children's pets, although are sometimes nervous but rarely bite or scratch; inquisitive and friendly, Guinea Pigs like to be handled and are very talkative!

Guinea Pigs should be fed a specific guinea pig food in either an extruded nugget or muesli mix with plenty of hay for roughage. Your guinea pig also requires additional Vitamin C in its diet, as like humans they cannot naturally produce their own Vitamin C; supplements should be provided such through either their feed or water.

Guinea Pigs on average live for 4-8 years.

Guinea pigs are really friendly and likes to be around people. My guinea pig likes her food and always squeaks when anyone comes near the cage hoping for attention and treats.
Overall guinea pigs make great pets and really easy to look after.

Recently received my piggie now named Gimli after he was spotted in a local pets at home. I have noticed more fancier breeds in pets at home recently including teddies and curly haired breeds.I have kept these little critters for years but he is my first indoor pig. I defiantly recommend keeping these guys indoors As you get so much more from them, in terms of tameness and entertainment. The only thing I would say is: only get a longhaired pig if you have time to brush them daily as their fur can become easily matted or soiled.
Also please research before you buy pigs, ensure you can fulfil their needs and companionship. Girls should be kept in groups of 2 or more and boys can be kept in pairs but they may fight when they are older. Guineas kept on their own (such as Gimli) require much more attention. I am looking into finding him a neutered girlfriend which is another option.

love my Guinea pig he is awesome lots of fun and easily amused this was a week after he was cured now he gets what he wants whenever he wants he is also very spoiled and hates his cage i spend lots of time with him and he wheeks when i walk past he loves watching tv with me or watching my brother play mine-craft but he is always hyper well most of the time and i can talk to him when i want and he listens he always poops or pees on people he hates like my cousins and he is very very very fast its like i have 5 guinea pigs but only have 1 so its fair to say we love each other all thanks to pets at home we love you

Well, i decided that i was going to buy two guinea pigs for myself so i can gain a good understanding for looking after animals as i want to get a qualification for a vet. so i think that this will help me be more confident in handling animals. The great things about owning a guinea pig are that they are fun and easy to interact with and are very good company for either when you're bored or need someone to be with. There is nothing bad that i have to say about guinea pigs and am looking forward to breeding different types. and HEY!!!!! maybe i might breed a new breed/species.

we purchased four guinea pigs and its great to see them interact with each other especially the guinea pig train.

we have only had them for a few weeks but they know when its feeding time and get very excited and noisy.

I would recommend guinea pigs as a first pet as they are quite easy to tame and very interesting to watch, but buy them in pairs and if your hutch is big enough threes or fours then they have company if you are not around during the day

Guinea pigs make great pets as they are small yet handleable. never had one bite or scratch!
Don't take up loads of room and can keep them indoors or outdoors, whatever suits. mine are outdoor as they get more room.
Most hatches are easily cleaned out, and doesn't take long if you do it often enough :)
Can be loud but only at dinner time :)

Guinea pigs are sociable, cute, friendly animals that require time, pacience, love and care.

I brought my guinea pig last year with my parents it was my first pet and i was very excited. I had done alot of re search which had helped alot. i left him in his cage for the first 2 days and after that started putting my hand in the cage for him to smell and feeding him treats. But after weeks of doing this and trying to pick him up he never really became tame. i tried my hardest for the first 4 months to pick him up everyday but everyday but he never licked the idea of me touching him and he became more and more skittish. i was determined not to give up on him, but it was my first year in secondary school and i went to a private school which meant i did not have enough time for him, i started school at 8;20 and finished at 4;10. after a few more months i had learned it wasnt fair on my guinea pig 'gingie' to be waiting for his food while i was comming home for school and it wasnt fair that he wasnt getting the attention he needed. i kept trying but i strongly believe this had something to do wit why he wasnt becoming tame. i wasnt neglecting him but i just didnt have time and it became very stressfull because my school life is very busy.

i kept gingie for a year but i had to take him back it wasnt fair, i had treated him well but i didnt have the time to give him the attenton he needed.

from my experience i recommend getting a guinea pig if you have time because the reason you are getting one is to look after it but if you cant, its not fair on them. i would absolutly get a guinea a pig in the future when i have time becasue they are ahhmazing!! your experience will be awesome if you give them the love and care they need!!

I got my two female guinea pigs around 3 years ago. They are very cute and love to be played with. They do tend to squeal very loud when they want food! But I love them and they are very good pets for young children.
