After searching everywhere for an open litter tray with a higher back and sides I gave up and bought this one with the intention of using it without the lid.

It is worth noting that if you want an open tray with higher sides/back that isn't designed for a small elephant you will not find one in any shop or on the internet. They are all designed for giant cats.

I have previously bought similar to this called 'Bill' which are still in use and was going to get another one, however I didn't see any for sale and this one is the same size and has the same shaped base.

Both my cats pee against the back of the tray so I simply wanted one that would catch the spillage and so far this has worked. My girl is quite small but manages to pee over the edge of a standard tray, the base of this one is high enough to alleviate the need to put plastic and paper underneath in case she misses.

We bought this when our two boys grew out if the kitten litter tray and initially they wouldn't go in because of the door so I simply removed it. The door has never been on since because it actually takes up quite a lot if room when open and I thought it would be distracting for them, especially since one of our boys is a nervous character. I bought some liners but they don't fit so I mix the cat litter between absorbent wood pellet and the white lava stone stuff and the boys seem happy, this also protects the base of the tray against acidic wee. I wish I had the space that they could have one each.

Bought this 9 months ago in purple for an 8 yr old farm cat I adopted. The first day I left the whole lid off, she was happy using it straight away. I then put the lid on without the flap for a day and had no problems, though once I attached the flap she refused to use it. However, this isn't a problem for me as I simply leave the flap off all the time. The tray is lovely and deep and is a good size. I use clumping litter and always maintain the depth at about 2.5 inches. I remove wee clumps and faeces every day so don't have any problems with it smelling, though sometimes when she does a number 2 it smells very briefly but think this would be the case with any tray. Easy to wash and dry, handy handle. Overall great value for money.

As with another reviewer I've found that my male siamese urinates on the inside wall of the hood and the urine runs down the outside of the tray and puddles onto the floor. All the design needs is an internal lip on the bottom of the hood that extends down into the tray - problem solved. Really not a good buy for owners of male cats in particular.

good sized product even for larger cats just 1 draw back! the filter cant be removed and washed and put back so once the filter has been in a while it actually adds to the smell

At first my kitten was dubious about the new litter tray as it had a lid. I left the lid off until he was familiar with it and now he is fine with it. He pops in and out when he needs too.

The litter tray keeps the smell confined but boy can you smell it when you take the lid off. It's easy to clean and move about.

I always remove any number 2s as soon as I encounter them in my cat's tray but I eventually bought this as I was fed up of smelling it as I went upstairs to the bedrooms (nice!!)
My young cat was a little dubious at first so I left some used litter in the bottom and topped it up with fresh so he could recognise the scent. I also taped the flap open so he could get used to going in as he doesn't use a cat flap so found that unusual. He 'christened' his new loo straight away and after a few days I was able to close the flap and he continued using it with no problems.
The box itself is pretty big and it is nice and deep for a good bit of digging! It is also really easy to clean as it has no squared corners.
I have found that the nasty smells are far reduced. Gave 4* though as if cat does his number 2 nearer the back of the pod there is no smell at all but if he goes at the front of the box there is still get a slight smell in the room. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this to any pet owner.

bought this for my new kitten and he's taken to it no problem, i did have to remove the flap but i plan on putting it back on once he's more confident.
The actual tray is nice and deep, unlike other hooded litter trays i've used for previous cats, because it's so deep theres been no spillage when he's been treading the litter after going to the toilet which is really good

I bought this litter tray to 'share' between my 3 cats. They are outside most of the day but for the night hours when they're inside, I bought this to give them that little bit of security. It fits nicely in a corner of my bathroom and the tray actually matches my decor (not that its that important). I'm very pleased with my purchase.
