On inspecting the packaging when I got it home I was surprised to see that a hutch cover, offering thermal protection, is only showerproof not waterproof - bearing in mind the British winter weather! However it is easily remedied.
My 2nd hand Rabbit came with a Poppy Den where the roof had rotted and I had replaced it with exterior quality plywood and roof felt. The cover still fits adequately. In fact when much colder weather was forecast I also added 2 cut-to-size pieces of carpet underlay on the roof under the cover, two pieces on top of the cover and a huge tarpaulin (because of the waterproofing issue). Also because of the extra cold weather forecast at night I put sacking twixt the plastic front and the cage, covering the waterbottle at the same time. During the day there is about 20cm square "window" as I keep the hutch pretty well covered up during this cold spell. So far Bumpy seems fine, demanding food with menaces as usual.
Ref. condensation - the holes in the front of the cover do not "prevent condensation" merely reduce it. However, putting sacking as described above which acts as a "wick", at no point have I ever found the bedding, newspaper, cardboard or anything appearing to be damp; even hay right against the mesh front.
Generally I am v. v. pleased with the cover and think it is good value for money; however I wish there was more specific information ref temperatures it is effective up to, how in the summer it should be used (yes, I know the sun shouldn't ever shine directly into the hutch but there is not a position where this is possible as the sun moves!), and how it should be stored/cleaned.
My hutch is not in a shed of any sort but tucked right up next to a fence, under a tree, but the inside is perceptibly warmer inside when I open up to feed Bumpy Bunny (at about 6.30 to 7.00am).
