Description

Roborovski dwarf hamsters are smaller and quicker than both Russian and Chinese dwarf hamsters.

They can be hard to handle until they are used to you due to their speed, but have a good temperament.

Roborovskis are usually happy living in same sex pairs or groups and can be very amusing to watch as they race around their cage!

Dwarf hamsters should be fed a hamster specific mix and can be supplemented with fruit and vegetables to offer variety to your hamsters' diet.

You should provide plenty of toys for your hamsters to play with, this will help to keep them happy and healthy.

Roborovski dwarf hamsters on average live for 2 years.

These hamsters are amazing, you couldnt get a more loyal and friendly hamster in your life! I have to beautiful girls (Lasie and Casie) and they have not bitten once.You should really think about if these are the kind of hamsters to have in your life, you really have to think about the cage you own (Honistly!! its no joke) I brought a cage as it stated dwarfs can go in this, i woke up the next morning and there was a scurring noise in the courner off my room there was a tiny hole were the coving had come up my baby girl was under the floor boards!!!! I ripped up the wooden flooring and luckyly she was unharmed (I took her to the vets for a check over) [...] the best cage you can get is a plastic one with hardly no bars unless there tiny gaps. Also they are very very very fast and you shouldnt let a child under 5 hold these, they can squeez out the tinyest of gaps an they are also scared of alot of things untill they get used to you, id recommed only adults or teens own these otherwise they are just a lovely pet to generally care for.

Impossible to handle!!!

have had pet rats and fancied a change unlike rats they are extremely difficult to handle, too fast to catch, bite readily making them unsuitable for children. because of their territorial and antisocial nature they are boring pets to own, as you will be reduced to just looking at them through the cage. they are rather boring and we will look after ours after duty and appreciate its cuteness but prefer the intelligence and friendlyness of our rats

i got two roborovski boys, bubble and squeak, because my little dwaft died!! i have only had them a week and i am able to pick both up easily!! they both live happily together and i would highly recommened them to any one xxx

I love my hamster she's called Snowy she is very friendly and loves to be handled and stroked. She used to be fast but now we have tamed her, we put her down on the floor and she just stays there looking at us or sometimes she crawls back onto my leg! You just have to tame it a bit so it gets used to you. She makes a great pet.

'Jaffa' is what we call him, hes lovely but he wont let you touch him or pick him up and if you go near his cage he will hide he really doesnt like being fused or spoken to he like to be left alone and come out at night when where asleep if we try to communicate with him he doesnt have it.. it also takes us a while to clean him out as hes very fast and gets really scared everytime we try to clean him out.. if your a person that likes to fuss your pets i dont recommend this hamster!

I adore my Roborovski hamsters! I have two girls and they get on perfectly, the occasional play tussle but they would never hurt one another. They are easy to clean and are very cheap to maintain, you only need to clean them out once a week. They don't bite, but they are VERY fast!
Not an ideal pet for a young child as they jump of your hands and can run very fast and be hard to catch. However once they are settled into their new home they calm a little. They are incredibly fun to watch, especially in their tiny ball which is specifically for dwarf hamsters, (they find it difficult to move the bigger running balls).
I HIGHLY RECOMMEND getting them a satellite style running wheel instead of a normal one attached to the edge of the cage, as my hamsters used to run so fast in it that they would fly out and land on their backs! Now they have adjusted to this new slanted running dish they love it! All pets at home stores have them and they are easily cleaned and perfect for these speedy little hamsters!
My hamsters have only bitten me once, that was when it was a baby but now they know me and don't bite. They occasionally nibble though!

Roborovski dwarf hamsters make lovely pets! They are very fast and harder to tame than other species of hamster, but mine have never bitten me no matter how scared they've been.

They grow to about 6cm long, often smaller. They come in quite a few different colourings, but for special colours you have to buy from a professional breeder (I have a husky (white-faced) robo and a normal one that can be purchased from here, Pets At Home).

Roborovskis have to have large cages if they are living in pairs or colonies, at least 40 by 70cm big which is why none of the hamster cages here have worked for a pair of roborovskis.

They also MUST have solid cages, dwarf hamsters, especially robos can easily squeeze through the bars of most cages. If they climb the bars it can be dangerous if they fall because of their delicate bones.

They must also have solid wheels, as the wire mesh and barred ones are very dangerous for their tiny feet.

Brilliant pet for people with quick hands and a little patience, I recommend to anybody over the age of 10, depending on how responisble the child is.

I've owned pets all my life and these among the best!

i bought three of these hamsters for myself and after a week or so i could pick them up and play with them without having to worrie about getting bitten. i would suggest buying another cage for back up since one of my hamsters started to attack another so i had to split them up. for there size they live for a long time. one of them died just before there first birthday another at 1 1/2 and my final hamster is still alive and is as healthy as ever
these hamsters are the smallest and fastest breed ive ever seen so dont buy them for small children :) :)

i have two girl roboroskies, named sqeaker,and speady,even though one sqeakes when u pick it up this,is the best hamsters i have ever had,much much much better than the syians,they are fat and ugly.but these are very very very cute,i have had mine for 2 mouths now,and tomorow im gona get anouther girl robo.when choosing a cageis inportant i do sergest buying the petsathome plastic cages do not get the bar ones they can fit though the bars and escape and you will never catch them!other than that they are sooo cute.
