I bought this for my 12l tank and it is no use at all, I have a desperate pump and airline attached as when I tried to use it with my other pump it took air away from the airstone.

My water is still brown and cloudy. Not worth the money. Going to get a Flucal U1 instead x

I brought this product mainly for it's good value, however I found that additionally I needed to buy a pump and tubing on top of the costs for this filter. The system worked efficiently making little tank/noise disturbance and cleaned thoroughly (evidence on the sponge) but it gradually begun to loose effectiveness at about 2-3 weeks of usage and cleaning the sponge and stones. I would recommend this filter for small tanks or as a temporary device as it proved to be easier and less costly to buy a proper system instead of a replacement cartage. I wish this sore of system was available with replacement sponge and charcoals etc as it would be an amazing product if u didn't have to replace it!

I'm using this little guy as a support for cascade filter in 17 litres shrimp (4x Amano) tank. Water is cleaner, shrimps are happy - not try to escape.
I change coal, and i rinse sponge in water from tank monthly.

Bought this item thinking it would be ok for my 15l tank but as soon as I used it it clouded the water and didn't really move or filter the water in any way. The price does not represent any usefulness! Wouldn't recommend to anyone. Buy a proper filter is the best advice.

To everyone who buys this, please please don;t do as one reviewer and clean your filter in hot water or even cold water, ie TAP WATER, you will kill all the good bacteria that helps keep the tank clean, you need to rinse the sponges in tank water, remove a big jugs worth and you can squeeze all the crud and dirt out, but you wont kill the bacteria, be a good idea to wash hands after. whatever water you have to replace, make up a batch of treated water with tapsafe or another product, refil your tank to normal level, but the important thing will be, you have cleaned out your filter and not killed the good bacteria which helps clean the tank clean, the carbon can be replaced, i suggest every 4 weeks, also use carbon pads, which can be cut to fit, much better than carbon 'sticks'
