Agree with other comments, crazy to stick the advertising on the inside with glue! Hard to get off, good soak in hot water and plenty of scrubbing. No leaks as yet.
The filter is the problem. No instructions at all and have had to use reviews for set up. Think it's now right!
Any ideas from anyone on how low down the filter should in the water, should it just be until the blow pipe is submerged?

I bought this for Lord Eddard, my fish.
As with other people I found the instructions for the filter at best useless- keep them to mark a place in a book. in case anyone is struggling=The plastic tube with the black ball goes to the top- it sticks out the water to suck air in to bubble through the out flowing water.
The industrial sticky stuff is also horrendous, why attach this to the inside of a tank I have no idea.
I'm not sure how people are getting a noisy filter, I sleep in the same room as mine and all I hear is a low hum, which is great.
This is a great set up for the money. Lord Eddard seems happy "water is coming"

I've literally only just bought this tank so I'm probably a little early to be reviewing it but from what I can see its going to be very easy to clean and maintain. I think the only things that bring this set down; and they are fairly minor, is the instructions for the filter (which believe me are worse than useless) and the fact that the packaging was attached to the glass with double sided sticky tape. Lots of feverish rubbing with water and cotton wool brought it off but it seems silly to attach it to the inside.

Just a note to any newbies like me who buy this tank, the little pipe that comes with the filter attaches to the small protruding outlet on the side of the main outlet (if that makes any sense). It's to pull air into the filter and aerate the water :)

Overall though the filter isn't too noisy, I managed to sleep with it not disturbing my sleep at all, but I did cover it with the cardboard packaging just to dampen the sound. Overall a nice little cost effective tank :)

Fine other than setting up the filter. The clear tube goes into the larger hole in the centre of the filter and the small black rod on the attachment goes inton the 12 o'clock position. The end of clear tube must be in air to allow the filter to work.

This is a gift for my daughters birthday, and as advised we have set the tank up and are waiting for it to be ready for some fish. However it has only been running 5 hrs and we are ready to launch it out the window as the filter is so noisy, should they rattle? i expect a humming noise but this one gets louder then goes to a reasonably quieter hum then kicks in again! Also the filter unit it getting quite warm! already thinking we will have to move the tank out of the living room to elsewhere which would be a shame. Any advice gratefully received!

This is a great starter kit for a total novice however the filter and instructions would be hard for an expert to get their head around. Its noisy and annoying after a while and i still dont know if im using it correctly. I would recommend but buy a seperate filter.

I've just bought the tank and I would highly recommend it as a starter tank for a couple of goldfish. The filter does make a noise but it is as loud as rain outside. The filter comes with a small transparent tube with float, this allow the filter to oxygenate the water. Make sure you have this when purchasing tank. My fish enjoy the current made by the filter and are much better of than being in a bowl.

We bought this starter tank four our daughters first pet

On the face of it it seemed reasonable in terms of value and looks

We have had no leaks but the lid is flimsy and is actually now hogging.

The filter is a joke with useless instructions. As a engineer I was more confused after reading them. The first complaint is that its noisy and the second that it failed after six weeks.

After 4 weeks our first fish died and although novice we blame this on the filter which slips and is less effective a few days after cleaning. The fish may not have been 100% either so...

However after replacing the filter and buying fish elsewhere we now have some active happy fish so I think we learned the hard way by having fish that went on an extended holiday.

The filter is key so spend an extra few pounds
