Found my tank water was gloomy and a lot of dirt floating about so took out the generic aqua one filter and replaced it with the 10' and within 20 minutes the water looked clear

my old filter "interpet power filter PF1" sucked some of my fish,red eyed tetras,harlequins,to the sides of the filter,but having read the comments about the Elite Stingray,I went and bought one.(Stingray 10) I couldn"t believe how quiet this filter is.Having placed the filter towards the top of the water,so that it aerates the water,it works really well,Anyone going to buy a new tank,which includes an Interpet filter PF1,I would suggest that you put that to one side,and invest in a stingray. I have a FishBox 48 tank and find the Stingray 10 is well capeable of doing its job.Definately buy another one in the future.Well worth it!!!!!

I bought this filter to replace an interpet one lent by a friend that had seen better days. This filter worked instantly! Couldn't be more simple to install (just stick it to the side of the tank- hey presto!) Very easy to clean, compartments just slide in and out.. no trouble at all. Not sure about all the comments in previous reviews about bits floating past.. surely you would get those out with a net? And what bits are floating about anyway? You wouldn't expect rice to go through your kitchen sieve.. well the same can be said for your filter!

Manage your tank well and you'll be fine. . Ive aimed mine along the short depth of my tank and my Barbs love it! They make a game out of swimming up to it slowly at the bottom of the tank, and then rocketing upwards through a spray of bubbles! (I positioned mine on water surfsce so it makes bubbles and aerates the water)

Fish love it.. I love it. .. BARGAIN! !

I absolutely love these filters! Have had 3 in three differnt tanks for the past four years. Never had a problem with them, they are very quiet and clean the tank. As to other reviews about the water being cloudy, i can only imagine they didn't rinse out the inside before putting it into the tank. And to the people who say dirt floats right past it, well either the filter is full, or otherwise it doesn't catch every bit of waste straight away!

This is great. When I first turned it on there was the usual burst of air and it was loud, but this was because it needed 30 minutes to clear the air out the system. After 30 minutes or so it was a bit quieter, but there was still a rattling. The impeller was rattling a bit because it wasnt worn in yet, so I took the impeller out and put some petroleum jelly (vaseline) on the bit that spins inside, and the rattle quietened to the usual internal filter hum. After 2 days it was quiet. The filter must be quiet because it is literally 4 feet away from me when I sleep, and I struggle to sleep. I have found that the flow can be a bit strong for my barbs and gouramis, as they like slower water, so I turned the head around to the back of the tank and hey presto, a slower current, rippling water shadow (looks awesome) and great surface agitation, really important for aerating the water to keep my 9 live plants alive.

I bought this product to replace a very good filter that I had had previously. I liked the compactness and design of the product and had no idea that it would not be effective. It sticks on the inside of the aquarium using suction cups and just plugs in, it is quiet but that is all I can say about this. I am only writing this review because I am now forced to go online to buy something that actually works! And yes I chose the right size filter for my aquarium - some days I can hardly see my fish even if they have had a clean just days before - absolutely rubbish - don't waste your money.

I got this tank about 6 months ago. At first i was quite quiet. But about a week later. It was so loud i couldnt sleep. My auntie bought it for me for a gift. The food (and poop) just floats right past it. Then i went to clean it and it was horrible! Please do NOT waste ur money. Yesterday it broke and i had to spend money to buy a new one. Its to loud and cheap plastic!

Ok first couple of days but got noisey after 3 days. For somthing that claims to be silent it couldn't be further from the truth. Quite useless with its annoying rattleing

I have 2 of these Stingray filters, one in a 70ltr tank and one in a 25ltr tank and they are great! Instantly effective and very quiet (i sleep in the same room as one of my fish tanks, thats how quiet it is) and creates good water movement to aerate the tank as well.
Not sure why people are saying that it makes the tank cloudy? All that i can think of is that they have not rinsed out all the sponges and carbon filter blocks before putting it in the tank as that would make it cloudy without a doubt if you didn't rinse them out first.
Would 100% recommend these filters.
