Description

The Syphoning Set by Algarde is a useful piece of equipment for all fish keepers.

This pump actioned syphon can be used to clean the aquarium gravel whilst removing water or simply as a water syphon for weekly water changes.

The Syphoning Set by Algarde includes an on/off tap for ease of use and a safety mesh to avoid removing anything but water and dirt.

When performing weekly water changes no more than 20 - 30% of the aquarium water should be removed and all new water added should be treated first.

There are no non-returm valves in its construction, so unless your water level is very near the top of the loop squeezing and releasing the bulb simply sucks and blows air via the "out" side. You might be able to start it syphoning by putting your finger over the bottom end of the "out" side as you release the squeeze on the bulb, but the product is basically flawed.

I am buying a couple of cheap in-line non-return valves. If they don't improve things I will bin the lot.

I bought this as a syphon for cleaning up dirt from a gravel bed yet it does not seem to work? If anything it pushes the dirt away from the end of the tube that is supposed to suck up dirt. This product simply sucks up water. Very unhappy.

It simply works. Makes water changes very easy indeed! It doesn't stress the fish. Useful valve so you can stop the water flow temporarily.

Overall, an EXCELLENT product! - Makes weekly water changes so much easier with very little effort needed as it hangs securely over the side of the tank. One thing i should point out however, is that leaking often occurs from the flow control valve/tap so it is important to hold that over a bucket whilst draining water. It is very easy to assemble but the tubes need to be secure to prevent them coming off with the force of the water. Securing these tubes can sometimes prove difficult. Having said that, it is an excellent product and i would definitely recommend as these are just minor problems that users should be aware of.

i bought this syphon set today ,its brilliant and assembles very easily i like the fact it hangs over into the fish tank so you can have both hands free. i may of paid a little more than what the other products are ,but its worth every penny. thanks

I wanted a Syphon that would basically make water changes alot easier and quicker than my usual process, there wasn't many reviews on the different types of syphons so I wasnt sure how good they would be.
I would definately recommend this product as it is very easy to use, very effective and saved me alot of time, it has a hook that goes over the tank that allows you to have both hands free. The price was quite good too, I have a 40 litre tank and it did the job nicely, plus the fish didnt seem that bothered by it either

Definately worth it.
