Metal buckle snapped

Bought one of these for my 12 month old black lab. After just a couple of days, the buckle snapped. Fortunately my dog was as surprised as I was and froze to the spot, allowing me to grab her. As we were next to a main road this could have resulted in her being run over or a nasty accident for a passing car driver if they swerved to avoid her.

The collar itself looks great and the webbing and stitching are more than up to the job, but a collar is only as strong as its weakest point and if the buckle is made of poor material, the collar is useless.

Certainly, the coated metal is less than good. The fracture site shows that the metal is full of small air bubbles and has been cast incorrectly, leading to a honeycomb effect and affecting the strength of the buckle. The failure point was the static part of the collar where the fixed part of the collar attached to a cross bar on the buckle.

These are the BEST collars I have ever bought for my dog. I have had this collar for almost a year now and it is still like new! For the price it is great and when this one finally wears out I will buy another one without hesitation (but a different colour as everyone likes a change!) I have had lots of other collars which cost more and have only lasted a few months before they go grubby and need to be replaced but this one is the best one I have ever bought!

These collars and leads are much better quality than their price would suggest, very nicely finished and look like they will last well. The padding is thick enough to provide comfort but without adding too much bulk.

If I had to pick a fault it would be that the grey coating on the fittings is easily scratched, ie. when attaching an ID tag or where the lead clips on to the collar.

The range features really nice, unique colours, the orange looks fantastic on my black dog, but would still like to see a collar with a decent way of attaching ID.
