Happy Endings

Banks

When Banks, a lovely two-year old short-haired cat arrived at the Blue Cross Felixstowe Centre she was heavily pregnant and had been shot with an airgun.

Considering her ordeal she was a very friendly little lady, very independent and liked to have things on her own terms, but would also lay down next to you for a fuss and purred in appreciation of a nice tickle behind the ear.

Banks and her 7 kittens are all now happily re-homed.

Fern the kitten

Fern

Fern was abandoned in a re-cycling bin when she was only 6 weeks old. Found with a severe untreated eye infection, one eye had to be removed to save her life and has left her with only partial sight in the other.

Re-homed by Cat Rescue, Chippenham, Fern is now really enjoying life and getting up to all the usual kitten mischief.

Carrot

Carrot is a beautiful 3 legged rabbit adopted from the Derby Pets at Home store. In her new home she is proving to be feisty, cuddly and very nosey.

Her new owners say “Carrot has no idea she is disabled – she races around the house and runs up and down the stairs like a missile. Thank you for letting us have her, and thank you to the person who decided to amputate her leg rather than have her put to sleep. She is definitely worth it to us.”

Piglet the rabbit

Piglet

Piglet was adopted from the Newmarket Pets at Home store. He settled quickly into his new home and learned how to get upstairs straight away – getting him down again was more of a challenge.

His new owners now know exactly who is boss in the house ‘Piglet has discovered how to jump onto our bed and curl up on the duvet for a sleep. He’s not happy though when we join him as he doesn’t like sharing!’

Roxy

Roxy formally known as Megan, was brought into the Society for Abandoned Animals in Tameside after she was found abandoned in a house. After 4 weeks at the rescue, the six month Staffordshire-terrier cross has found a new home.

Roxy loves her new home, although she does have a mischievous side when she got into the study and shredded a wicker basket holding the family DVD’s. Her new owners say ‘We had been looking for a dog for a while and walking around the shelter we saw Roxy – and we just clicked.’ She now gets the love and attention she deserves.

Lucy the dog

Lucy

Lucy, a cocker spaniel, was left unwanted when a puppy farmer decided to retire, but Halfway Home Dog Rescue stepped in to try and find her a new home.

She had spent all her life in a cage. All normal activity – walking on a lead, living in a house, travelling in a car and being stroked were terrifying to her.  She went into foster care to learn how to enjoy life. Lucy has recently gone on to live in a lovely new home with another dog to help show her the ropes.
