Eggs

There is nothing nicer than cooking an egg that is still warm, full of natural goodness and with a brighter coloured yolk than you would get from any supermarket. Giving eggs to family and friends is one of the many appealing aspects of chicken ownership. However it is often their personality that is appreciated more than their egg production

The safest way to store eggs is in the fridge, although it is best to allow them to warm to room temperature before cooking. The shell of all eggs is permeable, so if soiled it is best to hard boil. Make a mental note to clean their coop and nest box more often.

Some chickens do not lay eggs where you would expect. The use of clean nest boxes can encourage chickens to lay in them, but this is not always successful.
