This car harness is easy to use, keeps my dog comfortable in the car, and ensures his safety.
I really wanted to love this harness, but unfortunately it's a really tough fit for my pit mix; he's supposedly within the suggested measurements, and it fits well over his neck and shoulders, but the belly strap can only *just* be adjusted long enough to fit, which is rough because there's at least another inch of length to the strap but the metal buckles won't work if the strap is fully lengthened out due to the thick support piece of strap near the adjustment buckle. Being able to move the belly strap forward from the two snap options was the only reason it was able to fit at all. Could be easily remedied if the part on the back with the other end of the metal buckles was just an inch or so longer, though I'm sure there's a reason it's the length it is, and it is sewn in so it's certainly not replaceable like the belly strap. Hopefully that explanation doesn't sound like complete nonsense As it stands I think my only real option if he gains a bit of weight is buying a second, larger size harness, and swapping the belly straps. Or I guess just getting the extra large size altogether but then I'd be worried about the rest of the harness being too loose, like I said every other part of the harness fits perfectly. (Also the extra large is sold out of the color I like :( not that that's as big of a deal lol) Otherwise the construction is solid, parts are high quality, and I'm really pleased with the crash protection which is the main reason I picked this harness out. I like the adaptability of connecting the leash to the front or back of the harness but be aware that using the included seatbelt carbiner there is not enough space to also attach a leash to the same spot, which just means an extra step / more careful when moving the dog from the car if I want to connect the leash to the back of the harness where the seatbelt carbiner was.
We have only done a test run so far, but I think this is going to work well. The only problem I had was that I couldn't figure out how to unattach and then attach the clips on the belt. That says more about my IQ than an issue with the product.
I have now bought three of them for all of my dogs. They fit well and I love the use of the metal instead of plastic snaps. I have had to hard brake, and my dogs have stayed put. We also use them as walking harnesses. I hope I never have to see the crash tested portion.
This crash tested harness is slender, yet sturdy. It easily clips into the seatbelt and the colors are beautiful.
I'd recommend sizing up on this harness, but the Kurgo team was incredibly helpful and the harness is working great so far.
