Bookings and Appointments

First of all, a big thank you from us for coming to visit. Every dog that comes in to be groomed is treated like our own pet, so they’re in good hands with us.

On your first visit, we’ll get you and your dog registered on our system and ask a few questions to better understand what type of groom you’d like. We’ll also use our expertise to help guide you on any breed specific considerations. This will all be documented on what we call our ‘grooming contract’. We’ll ask you to sign this and give you a copy – that way we all know what’s going to happen during the groom.

We can also give you a tour of our salon and take you behind the scenes. We hope this will reassure you that the great service and care doesn’t stop at front of house – and that your dog’s care is our top priority.

Your first visit is also a chance for you to ask us questions, so don’t hold back. We understand how nervous you may be the first time you drop your dog off at the salon, so we’re here to put your mind at ease.

The easiest way is via our online booking system at thegroomroom.co.uk. All you need to do is register and book. Or you can make an appointment by calling your local salon directly. To find your local salon's details, please visit petsathome.com/thegroomroom. You can also pop into the salon and make a booking in person.

Yes, we recommend always booking in advance. We can occasionally offer walk-ins if an appointment spot opens up, but this is often at short notice.

You don't need an appointment to have your dog's nails clipped – if one of our grooming team is available, this can be done on a walk-in basis.

Our deposits act as a guarantee of your slot. But we know that, from time to time, things change. So, if you cancel or change within 48 hours of the appointment, we can refund your deposit or carry it over to your next appointment. We currently ask for a £15 deposit per dog.

Remember – if you need to cancel and have booked your appointment online, you can cancel directly in your online booking account.

This all depends on your dog's breed, coat type and condition, size and temperament. But we try to offer guide prices at the point of booking. Use our online booking service at thegroomroom.co.uk to get a rough idea of cost before you book, or visit our 'Grooming services' page for more details.

Don’t forget – it's never too late to add those little extras. When you drop your pet off in salon, you can add any additional services you may want, such as our popular deShedding treatment.

Our services

We only offer grooming services for dogs.

We offer a wide range of services that are suited to all dog breeds and their own individual grooming requirements. If your dog doesn't need a Full Groom, we offer plenty of in-between services. For example, a Bath, Brush & Blow Dry or a Face Tidy can be just right for keeping on top of essential grooming needs. Visit our 'Grooming services' page for more details.

This is dependent on breed, size, coat type and the style requirements of your dog. Our expert groomers will be able to give you a collection time when you drop your pet off for their groom.

Your dog's care

All our groomers are trained in line with iPet qualifications for a minimum of 1,000 hours before they are qualified. They are then continually assessed. Plus they have an in-depth knowledge of Canine Behavior and Canine First Aid

For the safety of the dogs in the salon and our customers, owners are not permitted to stay with their pet for the groom. However, you can stay locally if you wish.

Depends on the dog, on average long haired dogs require grooming every 6-8 weeks. Smooth haired dogs can vary, this can be dependent on their shedding cycle and outdoor activities. Speak to your local Pets Grooming salon for individual grooming requirements

Nearly all of our salons use free-standing dryers, and your dog is dried by hand by one of our groomers. We'll never leave your dog unattended while they're having a groom in one of our salons, so you can rest assured that they're safe and in the best possible care.

A small number of salons may use a drying cabinet. Please inform your groomer if your dog has any conditions (medical or not) that may exclude them from using the cabinet. Allowing our groomers to use a drying cabinet is done so entirely at the dog owner's risk.

Unfortunately, we can't groom dogs who are pregnant or in season (heat).

Our groomers pride themselves on being able to settle the dogs in their care. Our team goes through extensive behaviour training to help them recognise stress signals and to keep both themselves and the dogs safe. Our salons have calming diffusers to help naturally alleviate mild anxiety.

If a dog is aggressive towards a member of our grooming team or another pet, we may need to muzzle them. It is the owner's responsibility to inform the groomer if they do not wish their pet to be muzzled. Refusal may result in the groom not taking place.

General

To improve your dog's experience at Pets Grooming, there are a couple of things you can do before bringing them in.

Please do not feed your pet within 30 minutes prior to their appointment

Please ensure that your pet has been given the opportunity to go to the loo before they enter the grooming salon. This will ensure that they get the maximum enjoyment out of their groom

Let us know as soon as possible if you're running late and we'll do our best to fit you in. If you arrive more than 15 minutes late, we can't guarantee that your appointment will still be available.

If you don’t collect your dog at the agreed collection time, there'll be an additional charge of £5 for every 30 minutes we hold your dog after the collection time stated on the grooming contract.

We'd always like to give the salon team an opportunity to make up for any problems you've had with your groom. Our PetCare Centre telephone numbers are in our 'Store locator'.

However, if you do need to contact Customer Services, our customer service team are on hand to help, please go to our contact us page.

We respond to email messages in the order they are received. Please allow 72 hours (Monday - Sunday 09:00 - 18:00) for us to answer your query or for a quicker response, please use our Live Chat service.
