This Indoor Cage is intended as a temporary home. Our temporary homes can be placed within a larger enclosure as a secluded sleeping space for indoor Rabbits and Guinea Pigs, used to house your pet whilst cleaning their habitat or performing maintenance, to transport your pet if you’re moving home or as a secure space for poorly pets who need to rest. You may even want to use a temporary home to introduce new pets to each other – letting them get used to another rabbit’s presence slowly and safely. We do not recommend using a temporary home as a permanent place for your rabbit or guinea pig to live in.
Ferplast Rabbit and Guinea Pig Home 240 offers your rabbit or guinea pig a large living space. It is made up of 2 storeys, linked by a plastic ladder. Both storeys have a sturdy plastic tray, connected to a metal mesh roof. The home can be opened via a wide door at the top, with security locks and there is also a sliding door at the bottom. Available in a trendy grey colour, this home comes complete with a ladder, feeders for hay, a drinking bottle, food bowl and a separate home for your pet to use to relax.
The shelter offers your small animal a concealed place to rest, so cover the floor with some newspaper, dust-free wood shavings (for guinea pigs) or hay and straw, to make them feel even cosier and warm. They are natural foragers and will love to burrow and hide in this bedding.
As with any small animal, we recommend you buy the largest cage possible to give your pet the opportunity to exercise daily. Rabbits and guinea pigs love to run, jump, graze and explore, so we recommend adding tunnels and tubes to their home for enrichment and to provide them with plenty of hiding spaces where they can enjoy quiet time. We also recommend adding toys and chews to enable them to gnaw which is great for their teeth.

How to use:
Setting up a small animal cage:
- Wash all cage parts and accessories in warm water with washing up liquid or pet safe disinfectant, rinse thoroughly and allow to dry.
- Fill base of cage with bedding deep enough for your pet to dig into.
- Add nesting material (ideally two types to provide choice).
- Add correct quantity of food bowls, houses, toys etc. For social species it is best to have at least one of each resource per pet (e.g. if keeping two rabbits, provide at least two water bottles, two food bowls, two houses etc.)
- If transferring pets from an old cage to new add some of their old, but unsoiled bedding.
- If they are new pets most breeders and shops will add some bedding to the transport box to help settle them in, add this to the cage.
- Let your pets into the cage and allow them to explore.
- Make sure that they are relatively undisturbed for a while as they settle into their new home.
A full instruction manual is included in the box when purchased making it easy to assemble your home.
