Product description

Veterinary-approved dietetic food in tins only to be used based on recommendation of a vet
  • Veterinary dietetic food
  • kidney function & appetite

Knowledge is Hill's first ingredient and Hill's understands what dogs and cats need to live a long and healthy life, which is why all Hill's foods provide precisely balanced, high quality nutrition based on pets' age and unique needs. Science has driven the creation of Hill's foods since 1939 and today their dog and cat foods are still created using the combined expertise of over 220 vets, scientists and pet nutritionists. Hill's believes that fed everyday the right nutrition makes little transformations which can add up to incredible results.

When dogs have damage to kidney tissues, the kidneys cannot perform as well as before. The condition is not reversible, but progression may be slowed. Dietetic foods for kidney conditions are designed to help reduce workload on the kidneys, enabling them to function more effectively. Dogs with decreased kidney function may experience loss of appetite and their food intake might decline. Hill's nutritionists and veterinarians developed Hill's Prescription Diet k/d clinical nutrition to help protect your dog's vital kidney function and enhance appetite and increase food intake. This wet food is made with chicken and has an irresistible taste that your dog will love. In fact, Prescription Diet k/d is clinically proven nutrition to improve and lengthen quality of life.

  • Smells yummy

No, I don't recommend this product

This product actually smells like it will be good for human consumption, but obviously not. Big chunks of chicken and a more runny consistancy for the kidneys

    • Goes down a treat

      Yes, I recommend this product

My little 16 and a half year old dog Tilly loves this food . We had a health check at the vets this week and her kidneys have made a significant improvement. Highly recommended this food for kidney care . She loved it from day one and always cleans her bowl of every meal.

      • Where’s the gravy?!

No, I don't recommend this product

I’m only giving 1 star because I feel as if the quality has declined. For the past couple of months, all the cans I’ve bought have had almost no gravy. My dog doesn’t want to eat it anymore. This formula has granted me precious time with my dog, I am anxiety ridden at the moment, fearing he won’t eat. The gravy used to make him crave the food, but now it hardly has any gravy, and he won’t touch his plate. Please fix this!

Our fur-babies love the stew. They get it as a daily treat in conjunction with dry food in their free-feeder

            Yes, I recommend this product

My dog’s appetite has increased greatly after switching to k/d. She used to ignore feeding times until k/d. Now she barks continuously until the food is placed in front of her.

No, I don't recommend this product

My dog was recently diagnosed with pancreas, liver and kidney issues, and I researched what a dog should be eating regarding a change of diet to help ease the pressure off his organs. He has ate Hills kibbles of various types for all his life and I decided to feed him the KD stew together with the KD kibbles. He refuses to eat any of it, even one week later he still will not eat the stew or the kibble, so unfortunately the whole lot of it will end up being disposed of down the tip. Another thing is that the stew is far too sloppy and wet. I would not even give it one star, if I was allowed to I would give it no stars, disappointed. Waste of money.
