How to use:
To ensure your pet enjoys a safe and consistent temperature, their cage should be placed out of direct sunlight, away from draughts and radiators. Also ensure it is placed well away from any electrical equipment. Try to place their cage in a quiet location where they can rest undisturbed. Remember, most small animals are nocturnal, they will be active at night, so a bedroom may not be best location.
The water bottle included comes complete with a plastic clip for attaching to the cage's wire top. The spout and two internal balls (made in stainless steel) help to reduce drips.
Using the water bottle:
- Fill the bottle and firmly screw on the cap.
- Turn bottle spout down. Tap the bottle to allow the water to flow into the spout. A few drops of water will fall out. Occasional dripping can be caused by the rise of external temperature (air in the bottle expands when the temperature rises).
- Make certain that the bottle is always vertical to the base of the cage or tray.
Setting up a small animal cage:
- Wash all cage parts and accessories in warm water with washing up liquid or pet safe disinfectant, rinse thoroughly and allow to dry.
- Fill base of cage with bedding deep enough for your pet to dig into.
- Add nesting material (ideally two types to provide choice).
- Add correct quantity of food bowls, houses, toys etc. For social species it is best to have at least one of each resource per pet (e.g. if keeping two dwarf hamsters, provide at least two water bottles, two food bowls, two houses etc.)
- If transferring pets from an old cage to new add some of their old, but unsoiled bedding.
- If they are new pets most breeders and shops will add some bedding to the transport box to help settle them in, add this to the cage.
- Let your pets into the cage and allow them to explore.
- Make sure that they are relatively undisturbed for a while as they settle into their new home.
A full instruction manual is included in the box when purchased making it easy to assemble your Habitat cage.
