Latin name Shistocerca gregaria, Locusts (Hoppers) are an extremely popular source of live food, particularly amongst Bearded Dragon Keepers. Highly nutritious, they form the main staple of many reptile and amphibian diets. Delivered fresh: To ensure maximum freshness, all of our small live food packs are picked, packed and dispatched directly from the breeder in specifically designed postage packs which fit through most standard letterboxes (so you won't need to wait in for your delivery). Inside the postage packs, the insects are securely contained within well ventilated tubs, ensuring they reach you in optimum condition.

Due to the nature of this product, quantity stated is an approximate volume.

Reptiles give us so much, which is why they deserve the very best care. We pour our expertise and passion into creating great quality products that you can really trust. We're better with animals, they’re at the heart of everything we do.

Feed as part of a varied diet to any suitably sized reptile or amphibian. Use feeding tongs or place into an appropriately sized feeding dish. Check and remove any uneaten live food a few hours after feeding. Consult a reptile or amphibian veterinarian if you have any concerns about your pet's nutrition or feeding routine.

Product Care

As with all live food, it is essential they are kept healthy. How to look after live food: Packed in bran, ensure the locusts are kept at a regular temperature of approximately 70-75F (21-24C) and away from bright light. To encourage the maximum shelf-life, empty into a smooth-sided container with a vented lid and add a slice of apple or potato to provide moisture. Proper supplementation should be given prior to feeding to your reptile.

  • Good quality live food

I always buy my leopard geckos locusts from pets at home becuase the quality and quantity are better than other, local pet shops. The price is reasonable too.

  • Have to dig for the boxes

Beardie loves them and when you can find a good box you can get a good few inside. Only issue is before they restock and there's like three locusts to a box.

  • So so

The waxworms and locusts are not as numerous or healthy as the ones I buy for a similar price in Horsell or Windlesham, the latter being a specialist shop. Usually your locusts are slow and hungry. The ones I bought in Windlesham today had green food in with them. I was told you had trouble keeping the creatures at the correct temperature in the winter months and had to move them elsewhere at night. Your staff are lovely but do fall in with customers anthropomorphising the larger animals in their care.
