Recent advances in the nutritional support of kidney function mean that we now have two diets to help support cats with chronic renal insufficiency. Pro Plan Veterinary Diets NF Renal Function Early Care and Pro Plan Veterinary Diets NF Renal Function Advanced Care have been developed to help support cats at different stages of their chronic renal insufficiency. The choice of diet should be guided by your veterinarian. Any changes to your pet's food should be done over a period of at least a week, gradually introducing the new diet whilst reducing the previous food. Complete dietetic pet food for adult cats for the support of renal function in case of chronic renal insufficiency.

A gradual transition to a new diet may be especially helpful in cats with CKD. Cats with CKD that remain inappetant or anorexic cats should be assessed for nausea. Warming the product to room temperature can enhance palatability for cats with a fussy appetite, and Fortiflora may be used as a palatability enhancer.

For each additional 1kg of body weight, feed an additional 15g of dry food when only dry food is fed, or an additional 1/4 can per day or 1/2 pouch per day when feeding only wet food.
