Care & behaviour: Dachshunds require an effective care routine along with good food nutrition to help manage their skin and coat condition, body size and general wellbeing. Grooming: Regular brushing to encourage natural oil release and to remove any excess hair. General health & teeth: Regularly check eyes to ensure they are clear, clean and healthy looking. Check for signs of weight gain by weighing regularly. Split daily food amounts across two regular meal times and ensure treats make up no more than around 10% of your dog’s total caloric intake. Regularly check dental hygiene (training to accept teeth brushing as a puppy will help maintain oral health). Exercise & play: Typically 60 minutes moderate exercise per day (stimulating activity to enrich their lives will be needed to prevent boredom, barking, and chewing).
