Product description

Hypoallergenic fish recipe, supports immunity, skin, coat, and digestion, ideal for sensitive stomachs and small breeds.

At AVA they understand what makes your dog different. That’s why this tailored AVA breed health formulation is specially made for Shih Tzus and includes +Imuvita to support their immunity. Shih Tzus are typically a loyal, outgoing and alert small breed. Their size and affectionate nature makes them friendly, sociable and an ideal companion. Shih Tzus are generally healthy although may experience back problems. As a brachycephalic breed they are also susceptible to overheating and some dogs may experience breathing and eye issues. Excellent skin and coat condition and a good digestive function are important for your dogs overall general health. Their AVA breed health formulation is especially tempting, containing a source of quality fish protein for sensitive stomachs, with a tailored kibble for easy feeding, prebiotics for digestive health and added Glucosamine and Chondroitin.

Their formulation includes +Imuvita which is a unique combination of beneficial natural botanical extracts, vitamins, and selected minerals, all tailored to meet specific animal requirements. +Imuvita includes Vitamins A, D3 and E to support vitality, immunity and general wellbeing with cranberry, pomegranate, and green tea extracts to deliver a source of antioxidants (to support and neutralise possible damage caused by harmful molecules called free radicals). With this carefully combined 'super-ingredients' including Beta-Glucans (to aid the effectiveness of your dog's natural immune system), the addition of +Imuvita supports the uniqueness and natural benefits of AVA.
AVA is Veterinary Approved and a perfect choice for those wanting to feed a quality food.

  • Important information

Care & behaviour: Shih Tzus require an effective care routine along with good food nutrition to help manage their skin and coat condition, body size and general wellbeing. Grooming: Brush daily to encourage natural oil release, detangle long hair and remove any dander (regular full grooming and trimming will be required to maintain a healthy coat). General health & teeth: Check eyes regularly to ensure they are clear, clean and healthy looking. Check for signs of weight gain by weighing regularly as this can occur quickly in small breeds. Check for weakness, disorientation or unusual behaviour that may indicate low energy levels. Regularly check dental hygiene (training to accept teeth brushing as a puppy will help maintain oral health). Exercise & play: Typically 45 minutes moderate exercise per day (although they love to run and play keep an eye on their energy levels, in hot weather care should be taken not to over exert them). Shih Tzus can be stubborn and good socialisation training may help control persistent barking (training will be more successful when started early and made fun – take care when it’s hot!). If you have any health or behaviour concerns, please seek Veterinary advice.

  • Perfect for my dog

Kibble isn't too big for the dog to chew. She eats it every day and loves it

  • Dog won't eat it

Kibble looked a good size but dog (Lhasa apso) wouldn't touch it.

    • Wouldn't touch it

Very disappointed. Our foster dog wouldn't touch this food; she would turn her nose up if it went anywhere near her face. Wouldn't give it one star.

      • Not great at all

Neither of my Shih Tzu crosses seemed to like the biscuits, and the biscuits were too big, I would not say they are tailored to small dogs. One dog has also had pancreatitis when I switched to this.

        • Not meant for my hypoallergenic shih tzu

Hypoallergenic foods,ie carbs, any sugar. Beets are not great for dogs. Sensitivities to foods,= yeast infection yes fish is fine. My vet does not approve? Gave to a freind who's dog has no skin issues.
