It is fast-growing and undemanding, making it a good plant for beginners. Its incredibly fast growth makes it ideal when starting up an aquarium. The stem quickly grows to over 40 cm long and 3-4 cm wide. Under good growing conditions, it readily produces runners and spreads across the bottom.
